01.12.2010

Last 29 of November Brazil ratified the International Convention for the Protection of all Persons from Enforced Disappearances.

Since the 20th state (Iraq) ratified this treaty on the 23rd of November 2010, the convention will enter into force on the 23rd of December as states the convention itself in article 39. In the case of Brazil, the convention will enter into force 29th of December, also 30 days after the ratification instruments were deposited.

Unfortunately Brazil did not recognize the complaint procedures.
